Top Ten Tuesday: Auto-Buy Authors

top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This week’s List:

My Auto-Buy Authors

While thinking of my auto-buy authors I had to laugh at how all over this list is. My list ranges from fantasy to Christian nonfiction, but that’s how diverse my reading is. I hope that I can recommend books to all kinds of readers here on my little blog. So let’s get to this wide range of books, shall we?

I just raved and reviewed one of her books, and since reading that one book I’ve read 5 of her many many many books! I love her books and how fast-paces they are. She writes on some hard-hitting subjects and her thriller mysterious are addicting! She weaves faith through her books in a beautiful and organic way. I cannot recommend her enough!

sarah j maas

SJM is hands down my favorite fantasy writer ever. I read her first book Throne of Glass when it first came out, and it’s a series that Chris and I have buddy read together over the years. It’s crazy the twist and turns that her books have. Looking back at Throne of Glass I would have NEVER guessed where the series would end up and I love that! SJM is also one of the nicest people I have ever met. Chris and I had the pleasure of meeting her at a book convention years ago and got to actually hang out with her at a meet and greet dinner and dancing thing and it was everything! I will always support SJM not just because her books are amazing, but because I truly believe she’s a very kind soul who deserves the support.

If you’ve followed my blog for a while you know that I’ve had a hard time learning to just let go of things I can’t control. From our infertility journey to anxiety and fears, I’ve had all my life I knew I needed a little extra help to get myself together. His Christian based self-help books have truly been a Godsend for me. He takes the truth of the Word and makes you see the hard truth. I will be reviewing the three books I’ve read so far very soon, and I know that I will be reviewing more and more of his books in the future.

Jessica’s The Violet Eden series is still to this day one of my favorite YA Paranormal series. I FLEW through them and they gave me all the fun feels that a good YA read does;  angsty teenage love, action-packed, fast-paced, and the fight between good and evil. I enjoyed the unique backstory that Shirvington created and every single book left me wanting more. I truly wish Shirvington wrote more, but Goodreads doesn’t show any future books, and she’s pretty private on social media. I’m hoping that she will surprise us all by just publishing a book out of nowhere, and hopefully, that’s sooner than later.

lysa

Lysa was the first nonfiction Christian author I ever read, and it was such a life-changing decision. The first book I read was Becoming More Than a Good Bible Study Girl, and it’s still to this day one of the best books I’ve ever read. Since then I have bought every book by her that I can find, and every single one of them has been outstanding! If you want to read a self-help book that lays it all out on the table than Lysa is your gal. She talks about everything in her books from her abortion and God’s grace to help her forgive herself for that mistake, to how her marriage was almost destroyed by cheating and substance abuse. This gal lives a grace-filled life full of trust in God’s plan and the hope that only comes from Him. She’s such an inspiration and a great teacher. I can’t love her anymore!

leigh bardugo

I LOVE Bardugo’s grisha world. Her descriptive writing really makes me feel like I’m part of the story. That I’m an unseen character peeking through the cracks in the wall spying on her characters. She has such a way of sucking you into her stories and keep you engaged. She’s coming out with a new adult fiction book based on the true secret societies at Yale and I am seriously counting down the days till it comes out!

jenny han

The summer I Turned Pretty is still to this day my favorite contemporary series. It has all the summer feels with the beach house, Belly’s love for swimming, and first loves. To All The Boy’s I Loved Before is hands down the cutest series ever. I have her Burn for Burn books but haven’t got around to them, but I”m sure I’ll love those too!

aileen erin

Aileen Erin is a new author to me, and I believe she is such an up and coming author! Her paranormal YA Alpha Girls series is so fun and creative. I mean it has a boarding school for werewolves! She has just come out with a new series and I know I’ll love it just as much as her previous work.

kim chance.png

If you watch Authortube at all then you know Kim Chance and her bubbly personality. She has given me so much inspiration and tips on my writing that I have to support anything she does. I LOVED her book Keeper and I just received on Arc of Seeker, and so far it’s just as amazing!

adriana mather

If you know me at all you know I love a paranormal or fantasy twist on history. Mather probably wrote one of the best YA historical fantasy I’ve read. Her book How to Hang a Witch was a fascinating twist on the Salem Witch Trials, and she knew the history from a personal stance since her ancestors played a big role in the trials. I saw that she came out with a new book this year, and I have no idea what it’s about but the second I saw her name I grabbed it!

There’s my list that’s all over the place, but I hope that you personally found a new author to try rather you’re looking for Christian fiction, self-development, or fantasy/paranormal. I would love to know who your auto-buy authors are. If you have a link to your own post make sure to leave it in the comments so I and the others joining in on the conversation can check your blog out!

    1. It’s very good! It really takes a chapter for common fears such as death, being out of your comfort zone, parenting, and more. My personal favorite is Be Anxious For Nothing, but Fearless is amazing too. I can’t wait to check out your list!
