Meal Prepping Made Easy

Game Changing Meal Prep Tip blog

If you have read my #1 Meal Prepping Tip  than you know I enjoy making meal prepping simple and efficient. In this post I want to give you what I like to think as my #2 meal prepping tip that will change the way you prep. It’s so simple, but it took me forever to have the ah ha moment to do it.

So what is my game changing tip? well it’s very simply really, I make all our favorite dinners in one week one for each day per-usual, but I double the recipe when making it. So once I double it I put one of the portions in a freezer bag, write the name of the meal, directions if needed, and the date. Most of our favorite meals are one pan meals or slow cooker meals so it makes it even easier!

Just to give you an idea of some of our meals I make and double here’s a quick list:

  • Baked ziti
  • Slow cooker chicken tacos (recipe coming)!
  • Chili
  • Stir fry
  • Slow cooker Meat burritos
  • Slow cooker Mississippi pot roast
  • Slow cooker BBQ Sandwiches

This is great for prepping when you don’t have the time for an entire day of meal prepping to do so. I know that this is very simple, but it took me years to do it, and once I did I couldn’t understand why I hadn’t been doing it longer. Just trust me it’s a game change,r and once you start you won’t go back.

If I know the week coming is going to be crazy I will suck it up and do one meal each night of the week and double them, and that gives me seven meals to put in the freezer. If I am just trying to have a meal or two in the freezer then I will just double one of the meals I make that week. This allows me to not be overwhelmed, but have at least one meal ready to go for a busy day.

This is also great because it lets you have a meal on hand for a friend. I talk about this in my post 5 Ways to Show Gratitude. it’s always nice to have a meal ready to be made for a friend or loved one that has something unexpected happen or just to show them how appreciated they are. Making a meal for someone is always a nice and appreciated gesture, and if you have a meal on hand to make quickly you’re more likely to make it for them.
